Creating a successful Animal Figure is more than making a mold. It is a step-by-step development process that connects creativity, design, engineering, sampling, tooling, and mass production.
At Virena Toys, we work with retailers, distributors and brands to turn product ideas into production-ready Animal Figures through a structured ODM development process.
01 — Concept & Product Direction
Every project starts with an idea.
We first define the product direction together with the buyer — including the animal species, style, target age, product size, price positioning, play function and overall market positioning.
Whether the concept is realistic wildlife, cute cartoon animals, collectible figures or a themed miniature world, our team helps turn the initial idea into a clear product proposal.
Idea → Product Direction
⸻
02 — 2D Design Development
Once the product direction is confirmed, we move into the 2D design stage.
Our designers develop the figure’s overall appearance, proportions, details, colors and visual style. Different views and design adjustments are reviewed with the buyer before moving into 3D development.
This stage allows the buyer to confirm the character and appearance of the product without committing to tooling.
Concept → 2D Design → Design Approval
⸻
03 — 3D Modeling & Design Confirmation
After the 2D design is approved, the concept is developed into a 3D model.
The 3D stage allows us to examine the figure from every angle and refine important details such as body proportions, facial features, textures, accessories and structural elements.
We also consider production requirements at this stage, making sure the design can be realistically manufactured.
2D Design → 3D Model → 3D Approval
⸻
04 — Prototype / Hand Sample
Before opening the production mold, we create a physical prototype, or hand sample.
This is an important stage because a design that looks good on a screen may need further adjustment when translated into a physical object.
The prototype allows the buyer to evaluate:
- Overall shape and proportions
- Size and dimensions
- Details and textures
- Standing stability
- Product appearance
- Assembly and structural requirements
Feedback is incorporated until the physical prototype reaches the agreed standard.
3D Model → Hand Sample → Prototype Approval
⸻
05 — Tooling & Mold Development
Once the prototype is approved, we move into tooling.
Based on the confirmed 3D model and physical prototype, the production mold is developed with our manufacturing partners in Shantou.
During this stage, we consider mold structure, parting lines, material flow, assembly requirements and production efficiency.
The goal is not simply to make a mold, but to create a mold that supports stable and consistent mass production.
Approved Prototype → Tooling → Production Mold
⸻
06 — Mold Trial & T1 Sample
After the mold is completed, the first trial production begins.
The initial molded samples allow us to check whether the actual production result matches the approved design.
We inspect details such as:
- Dimensions and proportions
- Surface details
- Mold lines
- Assembly
- Material performance
- Color application
- Overall appearance
If adjustments are required, the mold or production process is refined before the next trial.
Mold → Trial Production → T1 Sample → Adjustment
⸻
07 — Pre-Production / Final Sample
After the mold and production process are confirmed, we prepare the final pre-production sample.
This sample represents how the product will actually look during mass production.
The buyer can review the final product, including the approved colors, painting, printing, assembly and packaging details where applicable.
Only after the final sample is approved do we move forward to mass production.
T1 Sample → Final Sample → Buyer Approval
⸻
08 — Mass Production
With the final sample approved, the product enters mass production.
Our team continues to coordinate production, quality control and delivery requirements to ensure that the finished products remain consistent with the approved sample.
From the first idea to the final shipment, every stage is connected.
Approved Final Sample → Mass Production → Delivery
⸻
One Idea. One Structured Development Process.
For buyers, ODM is not simply about creating a new shape.
It is about having a reliable development process that can take a product from an initial idea to a commercially viable finished product.
At Virena Toys, our Animal Figure development process connects:
Concept → 2D Design → 3D Modeling → Prototype → Tooling → Mold Trial → Final Sample → Mass Production
This structured workflow gives buyers clear checkpoints throughout development and helps reduce unnecessary revisions, tooling risks and production uncertainty.
Whether you already have a complete product concept or only have a starting idea, Virena can work with you to develop the product step by step.
Your idea. Our development experience. From concept to production.
